Automated Garden Watering

We live in Texas and for those of you that don't know it can get really hot during the day and even at night. We decided that we wanted to water the garden at night.

A good number of years ago I bought a 275-gallon tank and put up about 20 ft of gutter on the backside of our house to catch rainwater. We just attached a garden hose to it and gravity feed water to the garden.

This setup worked well for a while but over time the flex hose connecting the gutter to the tank rotted, broke and then it just didn't get fixed.

So now here we are (02-2024) Things are getting fixed, and we are going to water!

Because of the heat in Texas, we decided that it would be better to water at night. We have also learned that our plants tend to do better if we use soaker hose watering. Keeping this in mind, I decided to build a system to automate watering at night.
